Calvin C. "Red" McCormick, Jr., died Monday, March 28, 2016, after a one year battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin C. McCormick, Sr. and Margaret Gallier McCormick, both of Lynchburg. Calvin was born on Dec. 31, 1946. He was a 1966 graduate of E.C. Glass High School, and served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from B&WNNFD after a forty-five year career. A member of Randolph Memorial Baptist Church in Madison Heights, he served as a treasurer of the Sol Moseley Class, and was ordained as a deacon in 2014. Calvin is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Diane Adams McCormick; his daughter, Melanie M. Grant of Forest; his son, Andrew P. McCormick and wife, Heather, of Lynchburg; his four precious grandsons, David and Spencer Grant of Forest, and Andrew and Cooper McCormick of Lynchburg; a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carson and Gloria Peters of Madison Heights; numerous nieces and nephews; and his furry son, Mr. Beasley. Calvin's greatest asset was his smile, and he kept it on his face through the past year of treatment. A celebration of Calvin's life will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Randolph Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Derik Hamby and the Rev. Charles Frye officiating. The family will greet guests starting at 11:30a.m. Saturday prior to the service.
