Susan Virginia Douthat, 72, of Lynchburg, Va., passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021. She was the wife of the late David Eugene Douthat for 37 years.
Born on Thursday, September 30, 1948 in Lynchburg, Susan was a Daughter of the late Samuel Paxton Montgomery and the late Mildred Virginia Brumfield Montgomery.
Susan is survived by a son, Robert McDaniel and his wife, Amy, of Manassas, Va.; a brother, John Robert Montgomery and his wife, the Rev. Catharine Montgomery; a nephew 'Robby' Montgomery, a niece, Paige Montgomery; three grandchildren, Jason Douthat, Caitlin McDaniel and Gabriel McDaniel; and two great-nieces, Sabina (Travis) Crites and Darienne Montgomery.
Susan was known as a kind and generous soul. She loved to bring joy and happiness to others where she could. She was known for going out of her way to help others. Because of her drive to bring joy to others she sought employment with DePaul Family Service for 23 years as an Office Manager. After retiring, she worked with Meals on Wheels where she was recognized for her numerous contributions to the organization. She always sought to continue to help others no matter how big or small the need was.
A virtual celebration of Susan's life will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2021 online at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg with the Rev. Jack Barrett officiating.
