Carolyn Richardson Obituary

Mrs. Carolyn Gaynelle Weiss Richardson, of Onancock, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on January 18, 2025. Born in Lynchburg, Virginia on April 11, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Henry William Weiss and the late Olga Gaynelle Brown Weiss.

Carolyn was predeceased by her husband of 19 years, Robert (Bob) A. Richardson. Carolyn and her husband enjoyed making lots of memories with many close friends traveling the country by GoldWing, camping, attending local plays, and dinners.

Carolyn is survived by her children, Chris Woodall of Concord, Virginia, Brian Woodall and wife Shannon of Greenville, North Carolina, Laura Woodall of Smithfield, Virginia, and stepdaughter Deanna L. Richardson of Belle Haven, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Leanna Pusey and husband Trever, Meredith Holmgren and husband Eric, Noah Woodall, Dean Richardson, Emily Killmon, Abigail Killmon, and Patrick Woodall; five great-grandchildren, two nieces, one nephew, four great-nieces and one great-nephew. She is also survived by her brother, Charles Henry Weiss and his wife Kristin of Houston, Texas. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Michael Conrad Weiss.

Carolyn graduated from E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg, Virginia in 1966 and from Longwood College in 1967. She was a devoted Christian and member of Epworth Methodist Church in Exmore, Virginia where many friends became beloved extended family. Carolyn worked for 36 years as a paralegal for The Honorable W. Revell Lewis III and John P. Custis, Esquire. She loved singing in choirs, serving in church, gardening, and helping others. Carolyn was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. 

A special thank you to Dr. Laura Kerbin and the team members at Riverside Shore Cancer Center in Onancock, Virginia for their gracious care and compassion.
